At two in the afternoon the road is 61 degrees. Your map showed the city. Now there is a tree over my cart.

Coolpath maps urban heat street by street for six city governments in India. Rekha’s corner was on the first map Ahmedabad used to plant shade.

Our mission

Cities plant shade where it looks good. It should go where people are getting sick.

Satellites show which neighbourhoods are hottest. They can’t show who is standing in the heat at 2pm, or why.

Coolpath combines thermal imagery with photographs and walks on the ground, so each city map shows where heat is hitting people, not just pavement. Six cities decide where trees, shade and cooling centres go with our maps, and Pune is next.
